Corrosion resistance
5083 alloy with different tempers has good corrosion resistance to atmosphere, fresh water, sea water, alcohol, gasoline and diesel, organic acid, concentrated nitric acid, and various foods. However, the 5083 aluminum coil is prone to stress corrosion cracking. In order to avoid stress corrosion cracking, the working temperature of the 5083 alloy should not exceed 65 ℃.
Tensile strength
Tensile strength refers to the maximum stress a material can withstand before being pulled apart. The yield strength refers to the ability of a material to resist microscopic plastic deformation. Beyond this limit, the material will not be able to return to its original shape, showing permanent deformation.
Specifically, this means that under the same conditions as the thickness and other conditions, 5083 aluminum alloy can withstand more impact than glass fiber, steel plate, or 5052 aluminum alloy.
5083 aluminum coil is a typical grade in AL-Mg anti-rust aluminum alloy, featuring excellent welding performance. It can be welded by various welding methods, and the strength of the weld can be equal to the strength of the annealed state.
According to ESAB (a major international welding equipment manufacturer), compared with other aluminum alloys, 5083 only loses 7% of its tensile strength around the weld zone, and 5052 loses 19% to 36% tensile strength after welding. Heat-treated alloys such as 6061 may lose about 80% of their tensile strength around the heat-affected zone of the weld bead.
At the same time, 5083 aluminum coil has good ductility, cold formability, and reliable corrosion resistance. With the decrease of temperature, the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the base metal and welded joints all increase, and the low temperature toughness is very good.
