5083 5059 Aluminum Sheet for Tank Truck
Aluminum for tank truck bodies is a very important application field. For tank trucks transporting liquids, gases and other substances, the use of aluminum alloy can effectively reduce the weight of the vehicle body and improve transportation efficiency and safety. 5083 aluminum alloy is a high-strength, high-toughness aluminum alloy with good corrosion resistance and easy processability. It is a good choice for aluminum tank car bodies.
Alum 5083 is a 5xxx Al-Mg alloy. It is an aluminum alloy that cannot be strengthened by heat treatment. It can achieve quite high strength by work hardening without heat treatment. The commonly used 5083 ultra-wide aluminum plates on the market have a width of 2.2M and a thickness of 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, and 8mm.
Aluminum tank trucks are about 20% lighter than steel tank trucks of the same size, but their transportation capacity can be increased by 30%. At the same time, due to the high strength, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance of the 5083 alloy used in aluminum tank trucks, aluminum alloy tank trucks are more wear-resistant, durable, and have a long life.
Aluminum alloy plates such as 5083 and 5182, which are suitable for oil tankers and other chemical transport vehicles, have the characteristics of large size, medium strength, high quality surface, high formability, and have good corrosion resistance and welding performance. In particular, the toughness and strength of 5083-H321 aluminum alloy will increase at low temperatures, making it very suitable for use in liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks on transport ships.
5059 aluminum has high strength, high plasticity and corrosion resistance, good weldability and low crack tendency. With its unique advantages, it is widely used in special tank trucks for petrochemical and other dangerous goods.
5059 aluminum alloy proves that aluminum can be stronger than steel. Its ultimate strength value and yield point are equivalent to low alloy steel S235 (AlCu4SiMg, AA2014), and its strength characteristics are also greatly improved compared to the traditional 5083 aluminum alloy. The yield point increased by 26% before welding and by 28% after welding(5059 H321/h116 heat treated welded sheet).
