In the field of tank truck manufacturing, aluminum alloy plates have gradually become the new favorite of the industry with their outstanding performance advantages. Among them, aa 5083 and 5059 aluminum alloys have attracted much attention. They each have unique properties and bring new solutions to tank truck manufacturing.

5083 aluminum alloy

5083 aluminum alloy belongs to Al-Mg alloy and is widely used rust-proof aluminum. It has medium strength, its tensile strength is generally between 270-310MPa, and its yield strength is about 110-150MPa, which enables it to cope with various stresses during transportation while ensuring the structural strength of the tank truck.

In terms of corrosion resistance, 5083 aluminum alloy performs particularly well. The magnesium element it contains can form a dense oxide film on the surface of the alloy, effectively preventing the erosion of external corrosive media, and is particularly suitable for transporting various corrosive liquids, such as chemical raw materials, food and beverages, etc.

For example, when transporting some weakly acidic juices, the 5083 aluminum alloy tank body can maintain good performance for a long time, and will not affect the product quality due to corrosion.

In addition, 5083 aluminum alloy also has good welding performance. Welding is a key process in tank truck manufacturing. 5083 aluminum alloy can achieve high-quality welding joints through common welding methods, such as argon arc welding, to ensure the sealing and overall strength of the tank body. This makes the tank truck manufacturing process more efficient and the cost is relatively controllable.

5059 aluminum alloy is also an Al-Mg alloy. It is a new alloy developed on the basis of 5083 aluminum alloy. 5059 aluminum alloy has higher strength, with a tensile strength of 340-380MPa and a yield strength of about 180-220MPa. It can withstand greater pressure and impact. For some tanker transportation scenarios that require long-distance transportation and complex road conditions, the high strength advantage of 5059 aluminum alloy can better ensure transportation safety.

In terms of fatigue resistance, 5059 aluminum alloy performs outstandingly. During the long-term use of tank trucks, the tank body is constantly subjected to alternating loads such as vibration and impact, which are prone to fatigue cracks. With its excellent fatigue resistance, 5059 aluminum alloy greatly extends the service life of tank trucks and reduces maintenance costs.

From the perspective of processing performance, although aa 5059 has high strength, it still has good formability through reasonable process control. In the tank car manufacturing process, it can meet the processing needs of tanks of various complex shapes, providing more possibilities for tank car design.
