What Will Influence Aluminium 5754 Properties

5754 aluminum alloy is a typical 5xxx aluminum alloy, which has the characteristics of medium strength, good welding performance, corrosion resistance and formability, and is widely used in automobiles, ships, aviation, aerospace and other fields.

The common tempers for 5754 aluminum sheet are H111, H22, H24 and H26. 5754 h111 refers to work hardening imparted by shaping processes; aluminum 5754 h22 is work hardened by rolling then annealed to quarter hard. 5754 h24 is work hardened by rolling then annealed to half hard.

Al-Mg alloys belong to aluminum alloys that cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, and are mainly determined by solid solution strengthening and fine grain strengthening of Mg atoms. During the production of 5754 aluminum alloy sheet, the ingot is annealed after hot rolling and cold rolling, and the annealing process is the key to the final performance of the finished 5754 aluminum sheet.

As the amount of cold deformation increases, the tensile strength and yield strength of the 5754 alloy increase continuously, while the elongation decreases gradually. When the cold deformation is 15%, the tensile strength and yield strength of the 5754 alloy plate are 226 MPa and 256 MPa, and the elongation is 9%.

When the cold deformation increases to 45%, the tensile strength and yield strength of the 5754 alloy sheet are 270 MPa and 306 MPa, and the elongation is 5%. The tensile strength and yield strength of the 5754 alloy sheet increased by 44 MPa and 50 MPa, respectively, and the elongation decreased by 4%.

When the cold deformation continues to increase to 75%, the tensile strength and yield strength of the 5754 alloy sheet are 346 MPa and 357 MPa, and the elongation is 3%. The tensile strength and yield strength of the 5754 alloy sheet increased by 76 MPa and 51 MPa, respectively, and the elongation decreased by 2%.

For the 5754 alloy sheet with the same cold deformation, as the annealing temperature increases, the tensile strength and yield strength decrease, and the elongation increases, and this change trend becomes more significant with the increase of deformation. 5754 aluminum plates with cold deformation between 15% and 30% have relatively gentle changes in mechanical properties, while plates with deformation between 45% and 75% have relatively large changes in mechanical properties.

With the increase of annealing time, the tensile strength and yield strength of the 5754 alloy sheet gradually decrease, while the elongation rate increases continuously, but the change range is small. Compared with the annealing temperature, the annealing time has little effect on the aluminium 5754 properties.
